Fried Chicken and Likker

fried chickenclownclownclownI can’t believe it’s that time of year again. Book Tour. Even though CHEAP SHOT isn’t officially out until next Tuesday, I was in Memphis yesterday to speak at the Memphis Public Library as a warm up. I was joined by crime writers Scott Phillips, Jed Ayres, and Michael Kardos to talk craft and books. And even better, my pal Jack Pendarvis joined me on the ride up from Oxford and we were able to discuss detective movies with Alan Ladd and eat at Gus’s Fried Chicken. As you guys know, book tour is often a time for me to explore local food across the U.S. and some excellent dive bars. Much inspired by Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown — which, by the way, I’ll be on May 11 as Mississippi is featured. I welcome any and all recommendations as I travel from Boston to Phoenix and many parts unknown as I release my 14th book! Thanks to all the notes and kind letters I’ve gotten via facebook, twitter and the site. Cheers — Ace
