Spenser Tour: Day 2

NEW YORK– Well, to be honest, I’m checking in from the lovely Newark airport. I arrived at Penn Station yesterday from Boston and had lunch with my editor before spending most of the day signing stock for WONDERLAND and THE BROKEN PLACES. I made my way down to TriBeCa for signings at Otto Penzler’s Mysterious Books. Drinks before with the amazing Megan Abbott — one of my favorite writers. There was much talk about Robert Altman, Dashiell Hammett, and why Miss Abbott refuses to see the new The Great Gatsby movie. I’m interested myself and may try and catch a showing while out on the road. My busy day in New York was topped off with dinner with David Parker, respected choreographer and son of the late Robert B. Parker. As happens in NYC, a couple interesting occurrences: I sat next to actor Damian Lewis  – Band of Brothers — at breakfast and later my driver was once the guitarist for both Roberta Flack and Harry Belafonte! Cincinnati is tonight. Joseph-Beth Booksellers @ 7 to talk Spenser, beer, and ask why Cincinnatians put chili on spaghetti. — Ace
